Online marketing: a new option for SMEs

But on the platform for personal online shopping in China, most trading items are new ones while used items from individuals only account for a small portion. Professor Chai Yueting from Tsinghua University, an expert at the Advisory Committee for State Informatization (ACSI), noted that such a feature was the largest characteristic of online shopping in China.

Reasons for medium- and small-sized enterprises to sell their products directly through online retailing are very simple. The first reason is costs, and another important aspect is that many of medium- and small-sized enterprises simply produce a certain kind of products or a certain series of products, their target consumers are rather narrowly and dispersedly distributed and it is very difficult for such enterprises to make use of traditional channels to promote their sales. more
